After months of sideways trading, SHIB rose sharply on Oct. 2, 2021, from $0.00000766 to $0.00002913 by Oct. 13. Two weeks later, SHIB recorded its current all-time high of $0.000089 on Oct. 28, although the market has since corrected again.
Although SHIB doesn’t have any firm utility as yet, the adoption of it as a currency has been seen in some areas similar to DOGE. However, it positions itself as a “Dogecoin Killer”, adopting a term given to several third-generation cryptocurrencies as “Ethereum Killers”.

China cryptocurrency
New applications and models such as tokenization, decentralized finance, NFTs (non-fungible tokens) and decentralized autonomous organizations challenge traditional models that outline who is currently considered a “person,” what is “value” and how this “value” can be transacted. This threatens to come into direct conflict with existing regulations pertaining to cross-border data flows, intellectual property rights and capital controls. It could also lead to ambiguity in the taxation environment, as well as posing a host of other policy concerns.
Chainalysis also notes that much of the capital flight out of East Asia is facilitated by the stablecoin, Tether (USDT), a cryptocurrency notionally pegged to the value of the US dollar (USD). Tether became more popular in 2017 following the PBOC’s restrictions on crypto exchanges in China. Trading Bitcoin for Tether was already made illegal by the PBOC’s 2017 prohibition on cryptocurrency exchanges, but it was still possible for Chinese cryptocurrency traders to acquire Tether from discreet trade with over-the-counter brokers or through the use of foreign bank accounts. According to former Grayscale Director of Research Philip Bonello, Tether is especially popular in China because its value is stable from being hypothetically pegged to the US Dollar, making it easier to exchange to the fiat currency of a user’s choice.
