  • For Admission in IITs Students need to qualify IIT-Advance.
  • For Admission in NITs Students need to qualify IIT-Mains.

Eligibility

  • The student should have Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics background in 11th and 12th grade.
  • IIT-JEE consists of 2 exams, JEE Mains and JEE Advanced.
  • Those students who are appearing for 12th Boards are also eligible for the exams.
  • JEE Advance can be attempted during 12th Board & the following year only.
  • JEE Mains can be attempted during 12th Board & the following 2 years only.
  • For General/OBC the minimum eligibility is 75% marks in 12th (CBSE & State Board).
  • For SC/ST candidate the minimum eligibility is 65% marks in 12th (CBSE & State Board).

Age Criteria & No. of Attempts

The age limit for appearing in IIT-JEE is 25 years. For candidates belonging to SC,ST and PD categories, the age limit can be extended upto 30 years. A candidate can attempt IIT-Mains twice in a year upto three years & IIT-Advance two times at the most. Students who are selected for admission to an IIT cannot attempt the examination again in the future.

Other Backward Classes belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL) : 27%, Scheduled Caste (SC) : 15%,
Scheduled Tribe (ST) : 7.5%, Persons with Disability (PwD) : 3%, Defence Service (DS) candidates : 2 seats

Percentile calculation of Qualifying Exams

The Percentile of a Candidate will be calculated as
Total number of the candidates in the ‘group’ / Number of candidates in the ‘group’ with aggregate marks less than the candidate X 100

Example: Suppose in a particular Board:

No of Candidates Registered =13918 and No of Candidates Appeared = 13711
A Candidate who has scored 50% marks in the Board and 2218 candidates have scored below him; his Percentile score will be calculated as follows
